Last night I rocked the Birmingham Town Hall. It was a giant room but most of it was ceiling space. You do have to ask yourself ‘why do some venues (usually halls) have such high ceilings?’ Is it a hark back to religious meanings? A space above us all that can fill with angels listening? Or is it giants of the old world that require the extra head room? The Nephilim perhaps? Either way its shit for modern electronic acoustics. I think the tech team did a great job though and we actually sounded fine. The stage was massive and high, so thankfully I like being up higher than everyone else, it suits my persona.
On that note though, or rather that word, I don't like being ‘high’. It took me years to work that out after many social offerings but in many ways I’ve always been quite slow in keeping up with myself and the things I'm not really into. No, I'm a level playing field mind-state kinda guy that's for sure. Mind you, some of it could just be that I'm settling well into my middle Age. At 51 you should know what you prefer in life.
Hey, we've just landed in Poole. What a beautiful seaside town. I'm looking forward to my Friday night here!
On the note of "I'm high, guys!" the latest Cryptid Factor episode hit Spotify today (miraculously before the Rizz Darby UK tour is over) 😅
You were amazingly funny last night. Your energy is contagious. My husband and I chatted all the way home about our favourite bits… which were everything. I wish I could see another show, but budget, distance, and time constraints say no. Thank you for coming to Birmingham because so many folks miss us out. Good luck with the rest of your tour.
