Well, the weather’s collapsed on us, but before it did we had a productive day yesterday. I did five interviews in the morning for various radio stations and then we caught the tube into the Soho district to meet up with Rich Fulcher for an afternoon podcast date. Steve and I got in there early so we had a look around and bought some comics from Forbidden Planet. I picked up issue 3 of Universal Monster comics The Mummy. (They had no copies of issue 1 or 2) Steve bought Daggerheart, a new TTRPG (tabletop role playing game) which he endevours to learn and play with me whilst we're on tour. We ran into our Canadian comedy buddy JJ Whitehead who also happened to be perusing parts of geekville, so I left Steve with him as I popped off to my podcast.
Rich and I, who are of similar age discussed many things on the podcast including the wonders of 80’s TV and how lucky we were to be brought up on the best of British and American sitcoms. I said, I'm a stand up but all my comedy is rooted from comedy character acting. I also raved on a bit about Aliens and AI but I think that scared him Rich a bit.
Later I caught up with Steve and JJ again who were proud to show me they'd managed to find issue 2 of The Mummy at another comic book store. Yes! Thanks guys, now all I need is issue 1. That'll be an ongoing mission for our tour downtime we decided.
We ended our lovely day in town by knocking back a delicious affogato each on the roof top cafe at Selfridges Dept Store.
Five interviews and a podcast - you must've been having serious déjà-vu-vu-vu by the end of that! (Got to wondering so I looked it up - apparently it's "déjà entendu" if it's for something you think you've heard before or I guess "déjà répondu" for something you feel like you've already answered?) Looking forward to that podcast as a fellow Gen-Xer!
Glad you've had some time to chill ahead of a busy touring week.
Don't give up on the weather yet, the sun is actually out in my part of Wales (about 15 miles north east of Cardiff), and it's not looking to shabby in the capital either. See you tonight!
